Jeanne Kleinman's
Groups as of June 1, 2010 I presently have openings in two ongoing groups which have been running over a long period of time: Young Women's Adult Group Meeting weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5:45-6:45PM, this interpersonal group has been open-ended and ongoing for over eight years. Psychodynamic in orientation, the group has also been a source of continued and ongoing support for members, some of whom have been present since the group's inception. Regardless of whether members are single or married, the young women in our group (who are in their early to mid-thirties) deal with issues of identity, work and relationships as they navigate early adulthood. Those members who have children are willing to explore their roles as parents, especially in view of their own family of origin issues. All are high functioning and employed. There is a willingness to deal with underlying feelings of competence and confidence as well as the challenges of anxiety and depression, in an atmosphere of long-standing trust and honesty.
Twenty-Something Co-ed Group This group, meeting on Wednesdays from 5 to 6:15 PM, began in October, 2008 and has had a constant membership. While group members are high functioning and employed, most are willing to explore the difficulties of getting "launched" into adult life. Some of the challenges dealt with include relationships, family-of-origin conflicts, work issues and identity. This is a psychodynamically-oriented group with members looking at their family patterns, and the way in which these patterns have impacted on present interactions. There is a good deal of "here and now" feedback given and received. Since most members have had difficulty with anxiety and/or depression in its many forms, the conversation often turns to our internal lives; and the atmosphere has been positive and supportive as we explore ways to understand and manage symptoms.
